Moonveil LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates exileoutdoors.com as Exile Outdoors. This policy describes what we collect, why, and what we do with it. The short version: we collect as little as we can, we do not sell it, and we are not clever with it.
What we collect
Your email address, if you give it to us — on the Field Work signup, the kit waitlist, or the footer form. We record which of those three you used, because it tells us what you were interested in.
Standard technical information when you read the site: pages visited, roughly how long, where you arrived from, and your browser type.
We do not take payments on this site. The Desert Fire Kit is sold through Etsy, and any purchase you make there is handled under Etsy’s own terms and privacy policy. We never see your card.
How we measure reading
Two things count visits. Google Analytics, which sets cookies and is described in Google’s own privacy policy; and our own first-party measurement, which does not identify you by name. It works by hashing your IP address together with your browser type and a fixed secret, so we can tell a returning reader from a new one without ever storing the address itself.
Both honour your browser’s Do Not Track setting. If it is on, neither runs.
The newsletter is sent through a third-party email provider, which stores your address and records whether you opened a message. Every email carries an unsubscribe link that works, and unsubscribing removes you rather than quieting you.
Links that earn us a commission
Some links to gear are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you buy through one. That is disclosed next to the link, not only here. The retailer sees the click; we see only that a click happened.
Who else touches it
A small set of providers: hosting, the email provider above, and analytics. Each receives only what it needs. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, and there is no advertising network on this site.
